Interior design for Huntington Village and the harbor communities of the Town of Huntington.
Robyn Baumgarten has designed Long Island homes for more than 25 years. Her rooms have been featured in House, Distinction, Fashion Manuscript, Newsday, and the Long Island Press. She runs her studio in Plainview and has completed projects across the Town of Huntington, including Northport and Cold Spring Harbor.
The Town of Huntington runs from the Long Island Sound shore to the middle of the island. Its north side is a string of harbors: Cold Spring, Huntington, Centerport, and Northport. Each has its own village center and older homes near the water.
Robyn designs for that coastal setting and for the inland neighborhoods south of it. The goal is the same in both: rooms that fit the house and the way you live.
Huntington's older homes include Victorians, colonials, and captains' houses near the harbors. Robyn keeps the trim, fireplaces, and wide-plank floors that give them their character.
Near the water, she plans for humidity and strong light. She chooses performance fabrics, solid hardware, and finishes that age well, then arranges rooms to frame the view.
Inland, the focus shifts to flow and storage in mid-century and newer homes. In every case, Robyn manages the trades, the schedule, and each finish herself.
These communities do not have their own page on our site, so each one gets a short guide here. For towns with a dedicated page, see the town guides below.
Huntington Village is the town's main downtown, centered on Main Street and New York Avenue. Heckscher Park and the Heckscher Museum of Art sit at its edge, and side streets hold Victorians, colonials, and early 1900s homes.
Older village homes often have narrow rooms and small kitchens. Robyn opens the plan where the structure allows and keeps the original details that make these houses worth owning.
Centerport wraps around Centerport Harbor between Huntington and Northport. The Vanderbilt Museum, William K. Vanderbilt II's former Eagle's Nest estate, overlooks Northport Bay from its hillside.
Many homes here face the harbor or sit on wooded slopes. Robyn plans rooms around the view and the light, with finishes chosen for a waterfront setting.
Huntington Bay is a small incorporated village on the shore of Huntington Bay. Its homes range from early 1900s summer cottages to large waterfront estates.
Water views drive the design. Robyn orients living spaces toward the bay and selects materials that handle salt air, sun, and humidity without looking heavy.
Asharoken is a narrow village along the strip of land between Long Island Sound and Northport Bay. It leads to Eatons Neck, home of the Eatons Neck Light, first lit in 1799 and still an active Coast Guard station.
Homes here live with water on both sides. Robyn specifies moisture-tolerant flooring, marine-grade hardware, and performance fabrics, then keeps the interiors light and relaxed.
Each of these towns has a dedicated page with local projects, services, and answers to common questions.
