ScopeGround-up new construction, full-service interior design from construction finishes through furnishing & styling
This extraordinary 6,000-square-foot residence in Old Westbury was a true ground-up project. We were involved in every aspect of the design process, from the earliest stages of construction through the final decorative details.
Our role covered the complete interior design and finish selection process. We chose the custom kitchen cabinetry, flooring, bathroom tile, backsplashes, millwork, moldings, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and all architectural finishes throughout the home.
Once construction wrapped, we moved into the furnishing and styling phase. We carefully selected every piece of furniture, wallpaper, artwork, window treatment, accessory, and decorative element. Together, these details created a cohesive and highly personalized living environment.
BeforeAfter
The rug that was selected from Kravet for this upscale, posh living room is nothing short of stunning and spectacular. The room needed something phenomenal. I designed a custom wood panel molding wall to match the cabinetry in the adjoining kitchen. Then, I had a very impressive custom limestone mantle fabricated by a specialist. The result is just absolutely gorgeous!
As shown in the before-and-after images above, the transformation is remarkable. Every successful project begins with a thoughtful plan, and for this home, we started from the ground up. The design concept was inspired by a beautiful area rug selected for the living room.
Because we had detailed room measurements and furniture layouts from the beginning, we were able to carefully space plan each room, ensuring every piece would fit perfectly while maintaining optimal flow and functionality.
From the Ground UpA Palette Built Around Blue
Our client loved the color blue, which became the foundation of the design palette. Once the living room rug was selected, it served as the launching point for the entire home. We developed a comprehensive design plan that connected the adjoining spaces through complementary colors, textures, materials, and furnishings, creating a seamless transition from room to room.
To help the client visualize the design direction, we presented detailed mood boards, color palettes, and curated material selections. These tools allowed the client to fully understand the vision before implementation began and provided a clear roadmap for the project moving forward.
Sourcing & RefinementCurating Every Detail
With a defined design plan in place, we sourced and presented multiple options for furnishings, fabrics, finishes, and accessories, carefully refining each selection until every detail was perfect. The client’s goal was to create a home that felt like a sophisticated designer showcase while still being comfortable and practical for everyday family living. Although the interiors appear elegant and luxurious, many of the furnishings and materials were intentionally selected for their durability and family-friendly performance.
Because the client’s children and grandchildren live in Florida and Chicago while she resides in New York, it was important to create a warm and welcoming gathering place where the entire family could comfortably spend holidays and create lasting memories together. Every space was designed with both beauty and functionality in mind, ensuring the home would accommodate large family gatherings while maintaining its refined aesthetic.
The TransformationBefore & After
From the architectural details and custom millwork to the furnishings, artwork, and finishing touches, every aspect of this residence was thoughtfully designed and meticulously executed. The result is a timeless, elegant home that perfectly reflects the client’s lifestyle and vision.
Completed to an exceptional standard, the project left the client thrilled with the outcome. In fact, our relationship has continued, and we are currently designing her new home in Florida.
Living Room
This impressive room has jaw-dropping and incredible bones. From day one, the design plan was set in my mind. When I saw the blank walls, I knew the room had to have a major impact. The art was our jumping off point.
High-end, elegant, classic…this five star room has beautiful bones from every angle.

Kitchen
For this room, the Dinec dining table and chairs that I selected for this room are graceful and classy. Behind them, the mirror and artwork seen in the picture is a perfect backdrop for this great gathering place. Overhead, the Visual Comfort pendant lighting keeps this kitchen stylish and clean.
Custom indigo-colored Vanguard counter stools provide a striking and stunning contrast to the white shaker kitchen cabinets. I love a little pop of color in a white space.

Family Room
The art in this room is trendy, chic and striking. It makes an outrageous statement against the neutral palette of greys which includes a Vanguard sectional sofa. The pop of orange creates a stylish and sharp contrast to the neutrals in this family room.

Entrance Way
Our scaffolds are up in what will ultimately become an elegant, extraordinary, dramatic entrance way. My vision was to use panel molding as a sensational way to make a stylish statement. I also knew from the start that with the panel molding walls being white, we would need some color contrast. So, I chose a dark grey/light black Kravet wallpaper for the upper hallway which is visible within the grand foyer. What a phenomenal sight to see every time you walk through the front door!

Dining Room
This outrageous area rug from Stark makes an incredible statement and is the foundation for this spectacular dining room. It was the jumping off point for this room. The silk wallpaper is by Kravet and plays beautifully off the incredible chandeliers, also by Kravet, that are truly like jewelry for this room. Furthermore, what better way to say stunning than custom Christopher Guy end chairs? The unique dining table with its beautiful acrylic base is by Interlude and is a perfect complement to the custom fabrics selected for the gorgeous end chairs.

The Details
This circular Weinman sofa was upholstered in a custom Kravet fabric. While this impressive high-end sectional sofa does not seem child-friendly and durable for a family home, it truly is. The fabric is treated with Crypton, thereby making it a performance fabric in that it is stain-resistant and durable.

The entire palette grew from a single area rug selected for the living room. Because the client loved the color blue, that rug became the launching point, and we connected every adjoining space through complementary colors, textures, and materials.
Both. The client wanted a sophisticated designer showcase that still worked for daily family life, so many furnishings and materials were intentionally chosen for durability and family-friendly performance.
We were involved from the earliest stages of construction, selecting cabinetry, flooring, tile, millwork, lighting, and plumbing fixtures, then furnishing and styling every room once the build was complete.
