Interiors By Just Design is one of the premiere firms offering the Hamptons interior design services. The Hamptons historically is one of the oldest areas in the Country dating back almost 400 years as several hamlets started to develop in the mid 1600’s on the east end of Long Island. With each advancing decade into the 20th Century, and as the LIRR construction gradually progressed, alternative means of travel from NYC rapidly developed (the use of cars, jitneys, and for the wealthy, helicopters and limos); the Hamptons (South Hampton, East Hampton, Hampton Bays, Bridgehampton and surrounding villages on the south fork – Quogue, Water Mill, Eastport, Sag Harbor, Wainscott, Speonk, Sagaponak, Amagansett) became increasingly popular and refined. The landscape of magnificent ocean beaches, the upscale amenities of rural villages, and the premiere and exclusive 5 star NYC restaurants to the locale attracted not only the upscale populous but many celebrities.
Long Island’s landscape of magnificent ocean beaches, the upscale amenities of rural villages, and the premiere and exclusive 5 star NYC restaurants to the locale attracted not only the upscale populous but many celebrities. Located in Suffolk County, this respite from the urban stresses of NYC, with relatively short travel time, provided the perfect escape for those who had the ways and means of luxurious living. The chic shingled architecture added a striking elegance to the surroundings.
Until the financial crisis of 2008 hit, the Hamptons was slowly becoming an alternative locale not only for the summer months, but was also attracting many visitors for the autumn and spring. However, since 2008, financial crises the Hamptons reverted back to its traditional Memorial Day to Labor Day holiday time period for escape. As a result from the years 2010- 2019, (pre coronavirus pandemic), Hampton real estate was on a downward trend with prices approximately 5% lower in 2019 than 2010.
An extremely dramatic rise in Hampton real estate coincided with the onset of the pandemic. At first high-end 1 percenters quickly were motivated to escape the New York City epicenter of the corona virus. Initially, they secured rentals but subsequently as the virus continued, combined with the low inventory of housing, rentals became extremely expensive, and the thought that buying a house in the Hamptons became more economically sensible. As a result sales prices have dramatically risen 21.7%.
Technological advances have broaden the workplace landscape to include working from home and remotely. Prior to the pandemic, remote working was increasing significantly as employees wanted increased flexibility to work from home. This demand has been building for years, but employers were reluctant as they contemplated a potential reduction in productivity. However, during the pandemic, employers have found this not to be true. The results of working remotely proved to be impressive.
Higher up executives rapidly discovered not only an increase in work ethic, but they would able to experience this phenomena personally, first hand. Simply worded, the cat was let out of the bag. Overhead of existing businesses was reduced and the genuine work ethic of an employee could be relied upon and trusted. There is no denying the draw and attraction of the Hamptons. The appeal of many superb Hamlets, that bring back fond memories of rural Americana and main street U.S.A. The absence of ubiquitous national retailers, and the presence of trendy boutiques, that add that an extra dimension to the marvelous shopping. Not to mention the refined elegant cuisine offered at an outstanding array of restaurants. Last but certainly not least, the exquisite natural beauty of the beaches and the ocean have not only offered a calming effect on many, but the lavish mansions that are situated throughout provide spectacular views that are a must see.
