South Hampton Historic Home Design

Designing for South Hampton's Unique Character

Interiors By Just Design creates personalized interiors within the historic and vibrant Village of South Hampton. Nestled on Long Island’s famed South Fork, South Hampton holds the distinction of being New York State’s oldest English settlement, founded in 1640. This deep history is woven into the village fabric, coexisting with its modern reputation as a premier Hamptons destination. We appreciate this blend, understanding how centuries of maritime heritage, agricultural roots, and resort development shape the area’s distinctive appeal.

The incorporated Village is the heart of the larger Town of South Hampton, covering about 6.7 square miles with a year-round population near 4,600 residents. This population swells dramatically in “The Season,” transforming the village rhythm. Demographically, the Village includes a significant number of established households and seasonal residents, reflected in its high median age (around 57.5 years) and concentration of wealth. Life here revolves around the stunning ocean beaches like Coopers Beach, the charming shops and galleries along Main Street and Jobs Lane, and cultural hubs like the South Hampton Arts Center.

A modern bedroom features a beige upholstered bed with a chunky knit blanket, a dark wooden nightstand with a lamp, and a chevron-patterned rug. The walls are taupe and a bench sits at the foot of the bed.
Modern white kitchen with open shelves displaying bowls, glasses, bar tools, and decor. Counter has a sink, two tall vases with dried plants, and a fruit basket with oranges and bananas. Bright, clean, and minimalist design.

My Design Story in Old Westbury

Art of Designing for Old Westbury

Nothing says the Hamptons like soaring ceilings and a calming off-white color palette with pops of black. We started this project by sourcing area rugs. Once we had our foundation, we then drew up floor plans and sourced other furnishings to complement the area rug. The window seat was built in by my team of carpenters. The pillow fabrics in this room are family-friendly yet make a strong statement. The black pendant lights create a wonderful contrast to the neutral color story. As always, we purchased a high-quality sectional and made sure the fabric was a performance-grade fabric. I always make sure we purchase extra fabric, especially when couples have young children. These are tricks of the trade and reasons our clients keep referring us. We are not here to only sell you beautiful furnishings; we are here to educate, advise, and create a room you will LOVE! We do promise that.

A modern living room with a white sectional sofa, gold and beige cushions, a round marble coffee table, potted plants, abstract wall art, and a large green plant in the corner. Neutral tones and soft lighting create a cozy atmosphere.

We respect the home’s architectural integrity, highlighting original features while integrating modern comforts. Design choices aim to complement the historic character, not overpower it, blending old and new gracefully.

Yes, South Hampton has a vibrant arts scene. We can help connect you with local galleries or artists to find pieces that resonate with your taste and complement your interior design.

We plan carefully around South Hampton’s seasonal shifts. Off-season may allow for easier scheduling of trades, while summer requires meticulous coordination. We adapt project timelines and communication to suit the season.

While personal taste varies, popular styles often include coastal chic, modern farmhouse, and updated traditional looks, frequently featuring light palettes, natural textures, and comfortable, quality furnishings.

Absolutely. We consider flow, seating arrangements, durable finishes, and overall ambiance when designing spaces intended for hosting guests; thereby, they are both welcoming and suitable for entertaining.

We prioritize durable, easy-to-clean materials like performance fabrics, washable slipcovers, and hard-wearing surfaces where appropriate, reducing upkeep so you can better enjoy your time in South Hampton.
